In this guide, you will learn how to set up a TU Dresden email account in Gmail for Android. You can then send and receive emails and view your calendar.

Installation

The Gmail app is pre-installed on most Android smartphones, but if not, it can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.

Setup

Open the Gmail app and select “Add an email address”.

Select “Exchange and Office 365” as the account type.

Enter your primary email address in the “Email” field. Then select “Next”.

Note on email addresses:
These usually take the form “firstname.lastname@[mailbox.]tu-dresden.de.”
You can find your primary email address in your profile on the Self-Service Portal under “E-mail” as your “Primary email address.”

Enter your password in the “Enter password” field. Then select “Next”.
Your email account is now set up. Complete the process by selecting “Done”.

Manual Setup

If automatic setup fails when you enter your email address and password, please set up Gmail manually. This is necessary, for example, if you are using an older version of Android.

Follow steps 1 and 2 from the “Setup” section above.
Enter your primary email address in the “Email” field. Then select “Set up manually”.

Note on email addresses:
These usually take the form “firstname.lastname@[mailbox.]tu-dresden.de.”
You can find your primary email address in your profile on the Self-Service Portal under “E-mail” as your “Primary email address.”

Now enter the following data and then select “Next”.
Note: If an error message appears, select “SSL/TLS (accept all certificates)” as the “Security type”.

Your email account is now set up. Complete the process by selecting “Done”.

Note on the integration of calendars with Android

Access is also possible via Davmail.
To access the Davmail gateway, a CalDav Connector app is required (for a fee, via Playstore). example configuration
