If you do not have an employee or student status at TU Dresden, you can only obtain a ZIH login via a guest status. If you want to add a guest status to an already existing ZIH login, please see the Notes for already existing ZIH logins at the end of the article.
You need a contact person for a guest login. In principle, any person who currently has a ZIH login and is employed at TU Dresden can act as a contact person. Exceptions are student and research assistants (SHK/WHK). The contact person can invite you via the self-service portal under "Guest management" as described below.
If you currently have a ZIH login with employee or student status, you can renew the ZIH login with a guest status.
If you have a ZIH login that is already deactivated, you can reactivate it with a guest status if the ZIH login has not been deactivated for more than 15 months. If the ZIH login was deactivated for more than 15 months it will be permanently deleted. If you need a ZIH login again afterwards, you can be invited as a guest, but a new ZIH login will be created for you.
In both cases you can follow the steps for inviting guests in this article, but please make sure to enter the correct data. All first and last names, place of birth and date of birth must be entered exactly as in the previous ZIH login. This is the only way the system can correctly recognize that this is an existing ZIH login. If the data does not match, a second ZIH login will be created for you. This must then be corrected manually via the Service Desk. The functionality in the self-service portal for existing ZIH logins will be improved shortly.
